Friends,
This message is going to every single person on my contact list!
Here's a wonderful way to support Rotary! You can help Rotary win up to 10 million United Airlines travel miles. It won't cost you a penny - and the miles will be used to help numerous Rotary projects.
In the past Charity Miles have provided transportation for Rotary International's Gift of Life surgical teams. Last year, these teams traveled to Haiti and El Salvador, where volunteer doctors and nurses from the United States performed life-saving heart surgery on many children and provided important training for local doctors. Charity Miles have also helped Rotary International transport Iraqi children with birth defects to U.S. hospitals for treatments they cannot receive at home.
Charity Miles are also used to send volunteers to help immunize children during National Immunization Days. And, Charity Miles provide airfare for financially disadvantaged Rotary youth exchange students so they may live and study overseas for one school year, enabling 8,000 secondary school students to study abroad in 80 countries around the world.
All you have to do is go to Charity Miles and vote for Rotary International. You can vote once a day until December 25th. Rotary is neck and neck with the Shriners - your vote may just make the difference!
And don't just vote yourself! Share this message with your network of friends. If you are a Facebooker, a Twitterer or a Texter - get cracking and spread this message. Remember, by winning these Charity Miles, we can bring smiles to the faces of thousands of underprivileged children!
Warm Rotary regards,
Ron Denham,

Dear Friends of Africa,
The next Africa Task Force meeting will be Thursday January 31 from 8 am to 10 am at the Daniels Fund building. Details on directions and parking are at the bottom of this email. Coffee and a light snack will be provided.
I am delighted to announce that our guest speaker will be Lamech Mbise, Executive Director of Funzeleo. The mission of this Colorado-based nonprofit is to increase the number of African youth who receive science education and ultimately pursue careers in the sciences, technology, engineering and math (STEM). Lamech has over twenty years in education and nonprofit management. He served sixteen years at Junior Achievement (JA) where he led fundraising initiatives, leadership-development and JA expansion in Africa. Born and raised in Tanzania, Lamech was Vice President for JA Africa Region; among his achievements was to triple the number of young people who benefited from JA’s business and entrepreneurial programs.
The format of his presentation will be in a 30 minute presentation plus lots of opportunity for questions.
This should be a really wonderful meeting with lots of new insights, especially related to community development. I encourage you to invite others who are interested in humanitarian activities, community development or education in Africa.

Ron, enjoyed speaking with you this morning, I have copied PDG 5950 Sandy Schley on this email, she along with Tim Murphy, Edina Rotary Club were the drivers in the successful Uganda $1 million water project. Several people from TRF and WV were looking at this project to see how well we could all perform after a few bumps in the road on other Rotary-World Vision Collaborated projects. To date we have matched about $6 million in Rotary Centric water projects plus a few micro finance projects in the same general areas in some 8 countries (Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda, Sri Lanka, Angola, Nicaragua, Honduras and Ghana).
I believe Sandy and other districts in her Zone (s) could raise $1 million over three years from Clubs and DDF, probably much more. We all team together (myself and Rotarians) to present and illustrate the project, the needs and the projected outcomes to the Clubs and raise the funding.
Remember, I have been a Rotarian for 31 years, retired and travel the world developing these Rotary centric projects as we have to train the WV national Offices about Rotary and how to make these work in accordance with the Foundation, not an easy task my friend as you might know.
If TRF could match the amount from the Clubs and Districts for minimum $1 million, as well as USAID committing another $2 million, I believe we have a commitment from WV US to also match with $4 million, possibly more. You could have $2 million from all Rotary Districts and Clubs over the three years, the $ 2 million from USAID and $4 million match from WV for a total
$8 million here and you could not have picked a country with more need as well as more WV-Rotary capacity as they are just completing their most successful project to date with Rotary.
Also remember that WV in the world does between $200 and $300 million with USAID and has been a qualified PVO since I believe 1984 or at least for many years. World Vision total annual worldwide revenues are about $2.6 billion
($1.2 billion in WV US alone). They work in 100 countries.
Thank you for advising me that WV Uganda National Director Rudo is already working with Sam Owori, I have met Sam and I am also pleased to hear you found most of the areas where we would want to provide water also have local Uganda Rotary Clubs and WV Uganda also has the large Area Development infrastructure and WASH capability already in place. it does appear the stars might be aligned for this endeavor. Rudo understands Rotary as does her staff, particularly Bettina Baesch who oversaw the entire Rotary water project now completing where we matched the Rotary funds from WV US.
Several PDG’s in Uganda have also met Rudo, Tusu and Steven Mwanje.
You have my commitment to assist Sandy and other districts in raising the needed funds, also I am as always committed to insuring these projects are 100% Rotary Centric as we did in the Gulu project now just completing.
Never in the 6 years of doing this has there been any issue regarding religion, it just does not happen. WV is prohibited from Proselytizing or evangelical work by country laws and policy, no Rotarian has ever witnessed any issue, in fact almost every prayer I have ever been involved with during project visits were led by Rotarians. Just threw this in as people who have not been involved in Rotary-World Vision projects seem to have a concern they are funding some religious entity and they are not. USAID also would not do the significant funding if there was any religious component, it does not exist. WV does this work because they are Christian, not to develop the religion. They work closely with all religions, very large in Mauritania where I believe it is capital punishment to convert to Christianity. They work to save the children, the next generation to alleviate poverty, the same as in the Rotary Mission statement. The Areas of Rotary focus are also aligned with WV work , water, health, food, education and economic development.
You can also be reassured that USAID reporting and Rotary reporting is unequaled by World Vision, Rotarians involved with these projects rave about the transparency and timeliness of the reports to all concerned, this is definitely a plus to having WV on board.
As Future Vision suggests, leverage the local NGO, we not only leverage the Rotary/USAID funding but the infrastructure and facilitation in a very professional way.

International Development Enterprises (iDE)
Presented by Andrew Romanoff
Andrew Romanoff, the former speaker of the Colorado House of Representatives, is now a senior advisor to iDE, an international nonprofit organization headquartered in Lakewood. IDE equips rural households in Africa, Asia and Latin America with the technology and training they need to climb out of extreme poverty.
Over the last 30 years, iDE’s water pumps, irrigation systems and other innovative devices have enabled nearly four million farmers in 15 countries to earn billions of dollars in additional income. Romanoff discussed the organization’s pioneering approach to international development — a strategy that has turned the marketplace into one of the most effective anti-poverty weapons in the world.
iDE aims to develop the lowest possible cost for the equipment that they produce and sell to local farmers. Purchasing the equipment, rather than receiving it for free, changes the dynamic and results in a significant commitment by the farmers. Local support to enable them to access markets completes the cycle and creates the results described above. More information is available at www.ideorg.org/
Greenhouse Project
Presented by Andrew Romanoff
Andrew also spoke about a new initiative sponsored by iDE and other organizations. It is called the Greenhouse Project; its goal is to advance sustainability by enabling organizations to collaborate and innovate and thus operate more effectively. Collaboration involves sharing: distribution channels, technology, program design, grant writing, marketing, back room support and more. Innovation will enable the members to start new ventures, develop and analyze business plans, and make things happen
The Greenhouse Project site is at 33rd and Arapahoe; it will open later this year after $500,000 is raised to do a major renovation of the building. For those non-profits that choose not to rent a space at the site, they will be able to join a virtual Greenhouse Project network.
Andrew said that there are more than 200 successful examples of similar collaborative operations around the US. Given the significant number of non-profits in the Denver area, many of which are similar work, he sees a huge potential improvement in the efficiency of the organizations that join.
Barbara Novick—SCORE (Service Corps of Retired Executives)
Barbara is involved with agricultural activities working through SCORE http://www.scoredenver.org/outside_home.asp and also with CCAE (Colorado Coalition for African Empowerment). http://ccaeunited.org/index.html
Judy Beggs—Friends of Gueoul in Senegal
Judy is working on the development of a training center to be opened within two years in Gueoul. She would appreciate assistance and advice in developing this project.
Andrew Appell–Volunteer with WASRAG (Water and Sanitation Rotary Action Group)
Andrew also is active with Project Sudan and Water for People. He will soon be moving to University of North Carolina Water Institute to set protocols for water projects. Andrew has been an incredible asset to the world community for his efforts in water development in underserved communities.
Dave Talbot—Crutches for Africa
Dave continues to collect mobility devices for Africa, but he has also expanded his focus. He is collecting 300 wheelchairs that will soon be shipped at no cost to Karachi Pakistan.
Margo Sargent—volunteer in Rwanda
Through The Rwanda Outreach Project, a non-profit at First Plymouth Congregational Church, Margo Sargent helps raise funds to support orphaned children and victims of the genocide in Kenombe Village, Rwanda. The program provides school supplies, uniforms, books, nutritious breakfasts, healthcare, and education through secondary school. The goal is for the survivors and their families to eventually become skilled, independent adults who are able to contribute to the recovery and growth of their community and support of their families. Margo is currently co-facilitating an 8-week OLLI (Osher Lifelong Learning Institute) class for adults: Africa Is Controversial: Why Bother?
Next Meeting
The next meeting will be held on Monday February 27 at the Daniels Fund Building from 8:00 to 10:00 am. We will discuss a number of different developments and offer our members a chance to discuss their initiatives in more detail.

Dear Mike,
Thank you for this timely reminder to our leaders.
As I spend time in San Diego attending the International Assembly this week, this urgency comes back very strongly, and I wish to add my voice to yours and to that of Chairman Tom to urge, implore and plead with our leaders to sound the alarm, because time is not on our side.
RI took a decision at the persuasion of President Kalyan, to commit resources to enable the ROTA committee to meet in Accra in August 2011, and for three generation of our District leaders to meet in Mauritius in November 2011, to chart a way forward, The plans and commitments were made by all of us current, in-coming and some DGNs. But now we have to beyond the plans to real results. Indeed, I am expected to make a report to the Board next week, but you will agree or sympathise with me that I will not have very good news to report. Please let us go beyond the normal call of duty and do the extra-ordinary if we are going to maintain the confidence going forward.
Best regards.
Sam.

My Dear Governors,
Please find forwarded herewith the email from the Chair of ROTA PRID Tom Branum which gives the summary of membership position for the half year 2011 – 2012.
The different districts should look at the score card for membership and it should be clear to all that this is the time really for action. Some districts have recorded negative growth while those that reported positive are very far from the targets.
In summary, the net change in membership from July 1st, 2011 to 31st December, 2011 is a dismal performance of 384 leaving us with a differential of 3887 to achieve our continental target by 30th June, 2012.
The performance of our districts have been extremely disappointing and this calls for a change of strategy.
One is not unaware of the challenges facing membership growth in Africa and indeed globally but as leaders, we have a task that must be done. Rotary International Board of Directors has trusted in our ability and commitment to achieve 35,000 Rotarians in Africa within two years from 1st July, 2011 and on that trust the board is backing Africa to host the RI Convention in the next few years. The least we can do is to keep our part of the promise to grow membership of Rotary in Africa.
I will therefore appreciate it if as the RI officers of your districts for the current year to please look at these membership challenge and consider strategies that will assist to overcome the deficiency that we now suffer.
I look forward to hearing from you shortly about your plans that will improve the figures from January, 2012.
Wishing you and my fellow Rotarians of your district a very prosperous 2012 and a fruitful year of service never seen before.

Member, Executive Committee, ROTA 2011/2012
Chair, West Region, (ROTA) Sub-Committee 2011/2012

Hi Josh
I am coming to you as PDG, for any invaluable insights and
information that you can give me in two areas:
First, the question of books.
We used to be able to arrange for books to
come here from the Rotary warehouse in Jo’burg. I understand that this is no
longer an option, but that our District will instead be importing containers of
books ourselves. How do I proceed in trying to get some books for my Club to
distribute?
Second, water projects.
- A year or so ago my Club agreed to be the face of Rotary in sorting out a water issue in Nyadira. The Project was being done through a Club in Alaska. We made an appeal through them to a broad range of Rotary Districts but made no headway. I attach a copy of an appeal that I drafted for this.
- I have also been trying to sort out water to the communities in Goromonzi / Chinyika, but have only met up with troubles in “finding” old plans that had been done when a dam was constructed in the area some twenty years ago. Despite many supposed searches at The Ruwa Council these plans have never been found. This second project is a “pet” subject of mine, and I really would like to get this project going. I understand that “discovery grants” are no longer available, we will need at least $10,000 to draw up new plans, and the funds that we raise are already targeted at orphanages etc.
- A member of our Club, Lincoln Mutasa, hails from the Mutasa area, and a water pipeline was constructed a number of years ago to deliver clean water from The Pungwe River to Mutare. The pipeline passed through eight or nine communities, and off-take valves were fitted, but each community had to do its own thing to draw the water. We intend to do one as an initial project, and then roll out to the remaining areas. We have recently obtained a copy of the plans that were done at the outset, and are currently having them costed. The beauty of this scheme is that it is gravity fed, no pumps or electricity is required.
- Any ideas that you may have with regards to funding water projects would be very welcome.

Dear Rotarian Korhan,
I leave the USA today to fly to Kampala, Uganda for the Reach Out To Africa Committee, which includes your countryman and my friend Orscelik Balkan. I have learned that I will probably not get to meet you there. When I heard that you would be in Sierra Leone this week, my hope was that you would be going over to RID Sam Owori’s Institute there on your way home.
My son, Tom Branum, Jr. is the Chairman for the Fishers, Indiana club project
to build 100 water wells in Sierra Leone. Seventeen of them are already in the
ground. While I am not directly involved in the project, I have been very
impressed with the manner in which they have brought together many partners,
including non-Rotary groups. When my son went there in December with a
group from his club, they made a 45 minute documentary that has been seen by
hundreds of people and has generated much enthusiasm in our country. A 4 1/2
minute version of it can be seen at:
Here are both links:

Quality Version: http://www.vimeo.com/14658836
For a Standard Resolution

The sponsors are satisfied that community committees and safeguards established at each well site will insure that they will be kept in good repair. The hope is that, once a well program is established in a community, it will lead to other TRF projects in those same villages.
Your favorable report would be much appreciated.
Yours truly,
Tom

Dear Johan,
Your enthusiasm for hosting a Rotary Project Safari is
commendable. The process begins with letting others know of your interest in
hosting a group. One way is to send me a short (150 words) article about
your offer and what visitors will see.
Also you should post that information athttp://rotarytrips.org/safaris.php
This is a brand
new site developed by Rotary volunteer Don Haakedon@eqsinternet.com. Yours could be
the first entry. I give you Don’s email address in case you have a question
about using the site, but it is pretty intuitive.

Dear Rotary Volunteers:
We are writing to share an invitation with you from the 2010-11 Reach Out to Africa (ROTA) Committee. One of the committee’s primary goals is to encourage more Rotarians from outside of Africa to get involved with service projects in Africa. Many of you have served in Africa as Rotary Volunteers, and we hope that you can share your stories with us to inspire others.
ROTA Committee Chair Tom Branum will be including these stories in a special medical edition for the October/November ROTA newsletter. We invite you to submit a story of any volunteer medical trip to Africa to be considered for inclusion in this special issue.
To be considered for publication, your volunteer stories should be no longer than 150 words, and please include a photo. Also, provide the name and email address of a key person at both ends of the endeavor. For your convenience, I have attached a copy of the RI Programs Photo Submission Form. Please complete the form and send it together with your story and photo to international.service@rotary.org.

My Dear Governors,
After the just concluded ROTA Executive Committee Meeting in Kampala Uganda a follow up action taken by our Chair Tom is the setting of goals for our committee which will cover all the regions of Africa.
Please find forwarded herewith the statements of six goals that had been shared by Committee Members. As you are aware the role of our committee is that of FACILITATION as the main DRIVERS of the goals are the District Governors.
It will therefore be my pleasure if you will be kind enough to urgently, articulately and analytically study and digest the goals and get your Districts and clubs leadership to share the goals towards implementation.
Please look critically at the following goals among others:
- GOAL NO:1 To achieve a net increase of a minimum 10% per year towards our target membership figure of 35,000 in the next 5 years from our current membership status of about 25,000. The goal can be achieved by forming new clubs, fleshing up the existing Clubs and retention.
- GOAL NO: 2 It is expected at the latest by 15 November 2010 for your Districts to advertize interest to host at least 2 Rotary Project Safaris and to have the actual Safaris at the latest 15 April 2011. This will greatly assist your Districts and Clubs with Service Projects coming into Africa from the richer economies.
- GOAL NO: 3 It is expected that every District grow by a minimum of 10% in contribution to Annual Programs Fund (APF) per annum. It is only fair that we do this as a way of making some contributions into the funds from where ROTA and other Projects will be funded. You will appreciate that even with the 10% increase, we will still be miles away from bridging the gap between Africa’s contributions to the Rotary Foundation and amount spent by Rotary International in Africa for matching grants, etc.
Please give me your action plan to achieve the above goals.
Kindly give me and the ROTA Committee your support to achieve these goals as your Districts and Clubs will end up Bigger, Better and Bolder by building communities, bridging continents through ROTA.

Dear District Governor Mohamed.
(Please forgive my poor attempt below to
translate my message to French.)
For more than three years, the Rotary world has mobilized to assist African clubs and districts to meet the needs of their communities. With the strong support of RI President Ray Klinginsmith and his three predecessors, an group of enthusuastic volunteers has been assembled to bring those in need to the attention of those who can help
Our only objective is to assist you to make Rotary Bigger, Better, and Bolder in your district.
One way we try to help is to bring the ROTA story to the local level in all African districts. North Region Vice Chairman Ridha Soussi and North Region Chairman Mohamed Delawar would appreciate having time available at district and club meetings to tell the ROTA story.
Please communicate your permission to allow them to be on the agenda at future meetings.
Thank you very much for your assistance to make Rotary a more significant presense in your region.

Hi Karin!
Greetings to you and Wes from the foothills of the Rockies in Fort Collins CO. It has been SO long since we’ve met or been in direct contact…
So it is nice that ROTA is bringing us back in touch with eachother
Karin, I would appreciate your help to have via e-mail some ROTA banner images which I can have copied onto physical banners, posters and/or handouts for my efforts to promote ROTA here in District 5440.
Specifically, I hope to have made a banner, perhaps 2ft by 4 ft, which has the image of the continent of Africa with the lion head and RI logo.
If possible, I want to have ROTA and Reach out to Africa on it or another image. Also, the image of the school kids with raised arms making the V symbol with their fingers….. and any other images you recommend. Please send them in the form (do I mean jpg? Im not sure) that will most easily be transferred to a thumb drive so I can take that to STAPLEs to have the banners/posters made.
I need these items ASAP (surprise!) to have the banners made for events on October 21 and 23 for which I will take pictures and write stories for the newsletter.
Karin, I’m copying Tom Branum just in case you don’t have access to e-mail these days so he could step in if needed.
All the best to you from MC and me

Dear Clive,
Your 12 November message to Sally Johnson was forwarded to
me.
I would consider including a story about your program in a future e-newsletter. It currently goes to about 3,200 members in Africa and around the world. The November issue went out this afternoon. I will forward a copy to you and put you on the distribution list for future issues.
I ask that you submit your article in WORD format, 150 words in length, and have an action photo included as an attachment.
Perhaps in this way we can be helpful to your work, as well as to our constituents in Africa.

Subject: The story of the Rotary Doctor Bank Tour to UgandaHi
I thought that you might be interested in the tour that we’ve just done to Uganda with Rotary Doctor Bank. . is a charity that enables British doctors to spend time working in Africa supporting the local hospitals. Doctors who go are paid their travelling expenses, by the charity, but work for free of charge in a Country that desperately needs their support. I hasten to note that the study team paid their own way to see the operation on the ground.
I’ve attached a link to a web page telling the story … the hospitals, outreach clinics, leprosy, appliance fabrication and the school on the serious side; and the people and wildlife of Uganda on the other.
It is supported by photos and video. I hope you like it … you can find it on:
http://www.cardiffstdavidsrotary.org/Uganda.html
We would like to raise the awareness of Doctor Bank and it this respect it would be helpful if you would copy the link to your friends and ask them to pass it on to theirs.
Best regards

Nelson,
Thank you very much for this information. Please refer the
organizers of these two trips tohttp://rotarytrips.org/safaris.php
There they will be able to advertise both opportunities in some detail, along
with contact information.
Also, a short writeup, with a photo of the peak or peaks can be included in the December newsletter. Include contact details for a local host club.
I depend on you to forward my request to the appropriate people, as no contact information for Faye was included in your message.

Dear Faye,
For inclusion in the ROTA newsletter, I would need a 150 word
article from you with a photo related to your event.
The newsletter might not
be the appropriate venue for this, but I will look at it closely when you send
it to me.
Did you read my earlier suggestion to list your trips
athttp://rotarytrips.org/sararis.php
Ray’s Rotary Safaris are visualized as individual Rotarians traveling at their
own expense to visit humanitarian grants sites and to travel to some tourist
areas. I am unclear how this would translate into a fundraiser for your club,
but am open to learn more about it.
Please visithttp://www.reachouttoafrica.org/and read the
guidelines for these trips.

Nelson has asked me to provide the necessary information. But I am not sure what information.
My name is Faye Cran – I am District TRF Fundraiser this year.
My Club, Rotary Club of Moshi, number 17283, are planning this as a way to raise funds for the Fight against Polio. I have copied this e-mail to my President Sadikael Kimaro.
The two organisations are also being copied..
Please let me know what other information you require – there were many pictures in what I sent to PDG Nelson.
Your advice and guidance would be very much appreciated.
Please lead us in the right direction.
Warm wishes,
Faye

Dear fellow Rotarians (Executive Committee of ROTA),
Please forgive this unsolicited email but I feel compelled to write to you directly. Recently, I was greatly inspired by President Ray’s November 2010 message, which encouraged all of us to ‘Reach Out To Africa.’ I have since visited the ROTA web site with great interest.
I have had a long standing relationship – some would say ‘love affair’– with the remarkable people and places of Africa for nearly 25 years now. I first visited Africa as a young (and naive!) research student in the mid-80s and have since worked across the continent in over 30 countries as an international development advisor/UN specialist. I have resided in South Africa (Cape Town), Kenya and Tanzania and in 2003 jointly founded and established a home and school for disadvantaged and traumatized ‘prison’ children in Arusha, Tanzania http://www.saintgabrielhome.net/ , which continues to flourish today. This year, the Saint Gabriel Home Foundation received generous support from my Rotary Club; Krakow-Wawel in Poland , for which I am most grateful. I am currently cooperating with the Library of Alexandria in Egypt designing a multi-sector project to address the challenges of adaptability to climate change for vulnerable communities in the Nile Delta.
The attached document outlines an initiative which, I believe could make a positive difference to the work of ROTA and the overall impact of RI in Africa and elsewhere around the world. I realize this may sound like a fanciful even bold claim but in reflecting about the development work I have undertaken over my career, I have come to appreciate the vital importance of cross-sector partnerships. Their effective design and implementation is most difficult but more often than not, they are the critical success factor in development initiatives, especially in the project focus-areas outlined for ROTA. This is especially true in the current global environment when the challenges we face as Rotarians and concerned ‘world citizens’ are complex and enduring, and the resources available are constrained and frequently, spread very thinly indeed!
I warmly invite you to read the attached document — which includes an open invitation for RI (and ROTA) to get involved and most importantly, to benefit from a project which will strengthen and enhance the productivity of partnerships across sectors and the world.
I have sent this article for possible publication to The Rotarian , and also forwarded it to President Ray directly. If you feel the article has merit, then please feel free to publish it on the ROTA website or elsewhere.
Thank you most sincerely for your kind consideration of this article. I hope it’s of interest and value to your essential work. I look forward to hearing from you and hopefully, meeting some of you in Africa in the not too distant future. I also attach a short biography and if I can be of assistance in any way to ROTA, please do not hesitate to contact me anytime. Sincere thanks.
With warmest Rotarian greetings and best wishes,
Roman (Pryjomko)

Dear Africa lovers,
This is a reminder that the next Africa Task Force meeting will be Thursday October 14 from 8 am to 10 am at the Daniels Fund building. Details on directions and parking are at the bottom of this email. Coffee and a light snack will be provided.
I am delighted to announce that our guest speaker will be John Brent, Ph.D.,
Associate Professor of Anthropology at UC Denver.
John is finishing up a
three year research project on women’s participation in microfinance in Bolivia,
seeking to understand women’s actual experiences as micro-entrepreneurs.
He will discuss the successes and pitfalls in the world of
microfinance.
In addition, Dr. Brett’s primary research areas are sustainable livelihoods in urban environments, food systems and nutrition. These are areas that are especially pertinent in Africa as well, so there will be lots to discuss.
The format of his presentation will be in a round table discussion.
This should be a really wonderful meeting with lots of new insights, so I encourage you to invite other people you know who are interested in microfinance.
The agenda is as follows:
| 8:00 to 8:15 | Meet and Greet | Everyone |
| 8:15 to 8:40 | Presentation | Dr. John Brett, others |
| 8:40 to 9:30 | Round table discussion about micro-credit in developing countries, with an emphasis on Africa | Guests and new visitors |
| 9:30 to 9:45 | Introductions | Visitors and guests |
| 9:40 to 10:00 | Open discussion | Everyone |

Dear Örsçelik,
Very many thanks for your mail and for all the time and effort that you have invested in updating and improving our ROTA website. This is hugely appreciated. We have no doubt that the upgraded website will have a positive impact on ROTA. We are also sincerely appreciative the efforts of webmaster Hikmet Ercan and PDG Tahsin Tugrul for their contribution.
In the interim, shall insert the information on the event calendar link – www.AfricaRotaryCalendar.org – about President Ray’s Alumni Reunion to be held in Cape Town next year from 3 – 5 February. The event received prominence on the RI website on 8 July under an excellent article entitled “Foundation Alumni to gather in Cape Town”. We are privileged to be hosting this event at a glorious time of the year for international visitors to our neck of the woods.
Warm regards,
June Webber

Tom,
If you want to use the Matching Grants website to list potential projects in Africa, here is some information you can send to your webmaster.
Here are the addresses to get the list of projects in Africa:
Non-pilot districts: http://www.matchinggrants.org/list.cgi?region=AF
Pilot districts: http://www.matchinggrants.org/global/list.cgi?region=AF
It would be possible to display a list of projects in a template that would look like the ROTA website. Here is an example of a list using another template:
http://www.matchinggrants.org/list.cgi?template=shi.html®ion=AF
Once you click on a project you are fully on the Matching Grants Website, but at least the list can be integrated on your website. If you want to do that, send me a URL to show me the look of the new website, and I will create a template that you can use.
Cheers
Philippe
