Meetings
THE ROTARY FOUNDATION

Dear Rotarian Friends,
ROTARY INTERNATIONAL
2011 PRESIDENTIAL CONFERENCE – ACCRA GHANA
As Convener, it is my pleasure to invite you and your partner to attend this Year’s Accra Presidential Conference, which will be held under the Theme “Making Rotary Relevant in Africa”, at the historic and newly re-built Movenpick Ambassador Hotel, Accra, Ghana on 20 August, 2011, only just a few weeks away.
Though notice for this Presidential Conference may be short, the Accra 2011 Presidential Conference marks one of the early International meetings for this Rotary Year and will present the latest news on Rotary International President Kalyan Banerjee’s programmes, and will focus on pertinent issues and challenges we face on the Continent. It will be preceeded by a meeting of the Reach-Out-To-Africa-Committee (ROTA), which is made up of many of our Senior Rotary Leaders. Come and share your ideas, learn at first hand what we ought to be doing and take home a wealth of information about possible partners to fund your projects.
An outline Conference programme is attached. All the sessions will be conducted in English with simultaneous translation into French.
We have recommended a few hotels, details shown in the attachments to this invitation, with a wide range of rates to suit every pocket. Distances to the Presidential Conference venue have been indicated.
We keep reminding ourselves that the purpose of the Presidential Conference is not only Rotary work, but also is an occasion for fellowship. A special Welcome Dinner has been planned at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel on the eve of the Conference. Do plan to arrive in good time to attend this Dinner. It will be a weekend of truly international Rotary fellowship.
Information on after-Conference tours, or project visits is available by booking directly with the tour company listed on the registration form, or by contacting the Host Organisation Committee (HOC) respectively, whose contacts are also listed on the same form.
I look forward to seeing all of you, Governors, Governors-Elect, our esteemed Past Governors and indeed, all club presidents and Rotarians from our Continent over.
At the end of it all, you will be satisfied and gratified to have taken a few days off to spend with your Rotary family and partners in the vibrant capital of Ghana.
Yours sincerely,
Sam Okudzeto

Dear Club Leaders,
I have the pleasure to forward, attached (5
attachments), the following documents in connection with the upcoming
Rotary International Presidential Conference, the ROTA meeing and TRF Cadre
Training, which would be held in Accra, from 18-20 August 2011:
1.
Letter of Invitation from Trustee Sam Okudzeto.
2. Registration
Form. Please note that this is an interactive form, which can be filled online
and should submitted electronically, to ease the work of the Registration
Committee.
Also kindly note the dates for the specific events which can be found on the
Form.
3. Outline Conference
Programme.
4. The Welcome
Dinner, is a ticketed event, which will be sold on a first-come, first
served basis, until the seats are taken. Because we have to pre-pay for this
event and there is a
limited period within
which to confirm our final numbers, we urge you to ask your club members
to register early. Rotarians whould be asked not to register, without
due
consideration, as we would prefer a situation where there are no
last-minute pull-outs due to indecision.
5.
For the Cadre Training session, we invite qualified Rotarians to volunteer their
time and register to participate. The days’s session will be run at no cost to
the volunteer. Please read
the entire document
carefully to understand the qualification guidelines and promote
registration by qualified club members.( Please note that the volunteers
will however be fully
responsible, for arranging
for their own hotel accommodation.
6. Provisional list of Hotels, for which
participants are required to make reservations DIRECT with the hotel
of their choice. Please note that the schedule is being upgraded to
provide
information on travel distances etc. (This will be ready on July 18,
2011)
7. Please note
that the ROTA Meeting, is open to the ROTA Committee members only.
It
will be our pleasure to welcome you to Accra.
Yours in Rotary Service,
Adotei Brown
